Xmas Gifts for Home Studio Fanatics

Yes. It is nearly that time of year. CHRISTMAS PRESENT TIME!

If you’re anything like me, you may be quite specific about the things you would like. My wife appreciates this as it makes her Christmas shopping that much easier. This year I figured I’d share my list of things I’d quite like and maybe you or someone you know might like them too.

IMPORTANT NOTE: I’M NOT ASKING YOU TO BUY ANYTHING FOR ME!
(Unless you’re my wife)

I’m just thinking they might be nice ideas for you and your loved ones…  Stick ’em on your wishlist and send it to the family. 😉

I’ll assume that the studio already has microphones, headphones, a MIDI controller and an audio interface. (If not, check those links for some of the best on the market). I’ve also previously listed the best home studio books I’ve read, which may be good choices. Let’s look at some more general little stocking fillers.

For the Guitarist

Most home studios will have at least one guitar that needs looking after. These nifty little stocking fillers should please any home studio guitarist.

Elagon (ST) Pro Care Kit

Elagon (ST) Pro Care Kit

I’d certainly be happy with this. A bunch of mega useful bits and bobs all neatly packaged in a little case. Though I would maybe add some;

GHS Fast Fret Guitar String Cleaner and Lubricant

GHS Fast Fret Guitar String Cleaner and Lubricant

Because you can never have too much lubricant

Boss TU-10 Tuner

Boss TU-10 Tuner

You should also never be without a tuner in your studio. This is a pretty neat one.

TC Electronic Polytune

TC Electronic Polytune

Or even one of these, if you’re feeling fancy. 😉

Leather Plectrum Holder Keyring

I would really appreciate something like this to save a few bob in lost pleccies over the year.

Practical Considerations

Home studio types are nothing if not practical… okay, maybe that’s not 100% true but we are grateful of the little bits of kit that make our studios neater, more reliable and safer.

Bluelounge CableBin

Bluelounge CableBin

This caught my eye recently as a neat solution to messy cables. Not sure it would suit my room though… unless it comes in black. I might prefer something simpler like this.

Furman SS6B 6 Plug Surge Protector

Furman SS6B 6 Plug Surge Protector

If we’re talking electricity… every home studio needs some kind of surge protector. This is an essential but often overlooked element. Don’t have one? Get one. For xmas. 🙂

A Songwriter’s Notepad

A Songwriter’s Notepad

No musician should ever be too far from a notepad (I usually have half a dozen nearby). This one includes guitar chord boxes and guitar and bass tablature, plus staff for voice/melody, a double staff for other instruments and lines for lyrics. This is definitely going on my list for Santa.

Just for Fun

So far we’ve had some fairly boring but valuable gift ideas. But there’s always room for something a little silly at Christmas… So how about some of these:

SUPER Audio Engineer Sleeveless T-Shirt

Tshirt

I would totally wear this.

Classic Guitar Amplifier Coasters Set

Coasters

I want want want want WANT these!. So cool. 😀

Any Other Ideas?

That’s just a few things I’ve spotted that I wouldn’t mind finding under the tree on Christmas day! Do you have any other suggestions?

I know the wife would appreciate any ideas… 😉

What do you think...?
