This category consists of semi-regular blog posts in which I write about what I’ve been up to and what I’ve been thinking about recently. This is more like a good old fashioned blog and I’ll write about all kinds of things here.

DIY Music Blog #13 – DISASTER! And how to be prepared for it…

A new blog post so soon?! Well, yes… and there’s a reason for this.

I’ve suffered from a pretty major setback in the DIY Music home studio recently and haven’t been able to get a lot of stuff done that I’d hoped to. However, I’m going to find the silver lining around this and also share some valuable lessons I’ve learned so that you can be prepared for any similar fate that may befall you. Continue reading

DIY Music Blog #12 – Boosting Your Mixing Skills

Hey there guys and gals, thanks for clicking through to the latest DIY Music blog. It’s been way over a month since the last one, in which I wrote about some of my plans for 2016. One reason for the long gap is because I’ve been getting on with working on those targets, among other things… But anyway, here’s an overdue blog post! I’m gonna talk about how I’m hoping to boost my mixing skills and how you can boost yours.

DIY Music Blog #10 – Peak Plug-in?

It seems it’s DIY Music blog o’clock once more. Yes. Here we go. Today I’m writing about reaching ‘peak plug-in’, a term I made up recently, interviewing people who know much more about stuff than I do, the holiday season, and a bunch of other things. So please, do read on if that interests you…  Continue reading

DIY Music Blog #9 – All DIY *All* the Time?

Hey there guys and gals! Here’s the ninth (not tenth as originally thought!) DIY Music Blog. I’m sticking with the new format of thought of the day / my news / other news again as I think I can fine tune that into a decent blog style. Let me know if you agree or not.

Once again, there’s been plenty going on since I last wrote, including new (old) projects and interesting turns of events. And something I’ve been thinking about a lot… Continue reading

DIY Music Blog #8 – Everybody Gotta Start Somewhere

Hello! Yes, it’s time for a brand new DIY Music blog. This is the part of the site where I write about what I’ve come across recently in my musical journey and maybe talk about about my thoughts.

As I’m still working out the best way to do this I’m going to try a new format. I’ll start with ‘thought of the day’ style section, followed by an update on what I’ve been up to and I’ll finish with news from the rest of the world. So today I’ll have a little ramble about our beginnings and where-we-are-goings, update you on my own progress, including Slate Digital plugs, new articles and new tunes, and have a look at what’s new in the audio world. So here goes.

Hello to you out there! Welcome to my seventh DIY Music Blog which happens to mark my first half-a-year of writing, blogging, making videos and basically putting myself about on the internet via this website. If you’ve just joined me, welcome… if you’ve been keeping up with my output for any amount of time, thank you!

DIY Music Blog #5 – Acoustic Treatment in a Small Room

Hello DIY Musos and thanks for checking out the latest DIY Music blog. Today I’m writing about something I’m finally getting around to looking at properly; acoustic treatment.

EDIT: Since writing this I was lucky enough to get to talk to Ethan Winer of RealTraps and get some really vauable info on acoustic treatment, as well as a few great links. Check out the full interview here.
